Margaritas

Margaritas tonight,
and I think of our friend Greg.
One night in Killaspuglonane
he enlarged on his hopeful plans
while explaining his very own way
to make margaritas.

Margaritas tonight,
and I think of our son Morgan.
At ease under beach umbrellas
on the sun-swept seaside
of Puerto Vera Cruz,
he drank margaritas with us

Morgan, who snorkelled at Puerto Vera Cruz,
now works for Nintendo
and has also set up his own business
in Washington State.

Greg, who moved west to California
–an ocean and more away
from Killaspuglonane–
one day placed a gun to his very own head.
