AS PART OF The Yale Review's INITIATIVE TO MAKE thoughtful criticism and innovative literature accessible to a wide audience, we host timely readings and conversations with writers at Yale University and beyond. Each spring, The Yale Review Festival brings preeminent writers, critics, and editors together in New Haven for a week of talks, readings, and workshops. The Yale Review also hosts lunchtime talks throughout the academic year with writers and industry professionals, as well as readings and events in New York City. We hope you’ll join us at our next event! Subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated about upcoming events.

The Yale Review Lunch Talks with Alexander Chee: The Writer's Life

Monday, November 4, 12 PM - 1 PM
320 York Street, HQ 134

Alexander Chee, bestselling novelist, essayist, editor, and professor of English and creative writing at Dartmouth College, will discuss what it takes to build a writer’s life in all its dimensions today. What labor—both intellectual and practical—is required to write across genres? What do alternative forms of publishing (such as Substack) offer that can’t be found elsewhere? How does being a teacher and an editor inform one’s writing life? Chee will be in conversation with National Book Critics Circle board member and TYR contributing editor Adam Dalva.

Free and open to the Yale community. Lunch will be served!
